This is a 6 x 6 inch printed ceramic tile framed in a tray frame. The tile is printed with the image of my Bothy on the Loch felt painting. The tile has a glossy finish and the tray is ready to hang.
The original artwork is a textile painting based on a red-roofed bothy on the shore of Loch Torridon. Loch Torridon is within an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Scottish Highlands.
The painting was created by carefully building up merino wool layers to achieve the desired effect before using soap and water (and a lot of elbow-grease!) to felt the fibers together. Following wet-felting, additional detail was added using free-hand embroidery and needle felting. I tried to capture the rusty oranges and golds of bracken in autumn, with the beautiful blues of the Loch and skyline in the background.
